Progress on the second day was strong as planned. The team travelled 8 miles, again mostly uphill but on good snow. At one stage they were forced to make their way around a large area of blue ice (where all snow cover had been blown away) and at another they saw some crevasses on an area of flat ground which were full of snow.

Zoe's medical skills were called on during the day when Caroline broke a tooth (rumour has it that a frozen Mars Bar was involved). A temporary filling was applied which should see her through to Patriot Hills where she will be able to have it capped properly. Apart from that, all team members are fine and remain in good health and spirits.

With Patriot Hills in the distance ahead and the Ellsworth Mountains to the right (west) of them the team are pressing on with the goal of reaching base camp by the end of Day 3.
