The team arrived back in the UK soon after 10.00 am this morning after flying from the South Pole to Patriot Hills, on to Punta Arenas and then Santiago before a stop over in Madrid on Sunday night. The flight in to Heathrow was delayed only by minutes and the expectant crowd, which included many members of family, friends, supporters and the press, was rewarded a short time later as the team emerged through International Arrivals. The very happy reunions (not least between Ann and her three very excited children) were followed by a press conference which was broadcast subsequently on the BBC's lunchtime news and on Sky News during the afternoon.
No doubt there will be more to be added to the details of the experience that have already been recorded in the journal over the last two months. Keep an eye out for further accounts of the days and nights spent on the ice that will feature on this site... just as soon as Caroline, Zoe, Pom, Rosie and Ann have had a chance to catch their breath and get used to being home.
